php 5.6 - path variable: why it was still there when echo %path%, after the deletion? -

i trying upgrade php version 5.3 5.6. removed old php 5.3 entry , added new php 5.6 entry in path variable. why when echo %path% in command line, gave me both entries?

okay, problem solved: closed command line, , reopened new one... echo %path% worked expected.
